Bulgaria is famous for its variety of spas. The country has both promoted and very youngbut rapidly gaining their potential tourists small picturesque villages. Also, tourists travel to Bulgaria to improve their health, to rest both soul and body. Seaside resorts of the country attract not only young, but also more mature vacationers who remember the friendly fraternal Bulgaria.
Let’s try to dispel your doubts and maximally honestly characterize every city and resort in Bulgaria, which we have been able to visit.

Nessebar – the oldest city in Europe
Nessebar – very beautiful, ancient romantic city, that is entirely under the protection of UNESCO. It is difficult to attribute it to the popular (most of our travel companions set off on a Sunny Beach), but the tourists at the resort are always in short supply. The city is comfortable in regarding of excursions. Along the coast and in the reception of any hotel in Nessebar, you can choose any journey you like and enjoy it. There is no bus station in the city, but at each stop there is a schedule of routes for navigation. You just have to come at the appointed time and wait for the bus (they are not late).
The city has a huge number of restaurants, cafes, fast food establishments. Prices in establishments mainly high, especially in tourist destinations. We should also mention taverns. These are the Bulgarian restaurants, serving delicious traditional food.
The city has several clean beaches. One of the nicest in our opinion, the beach behind stones. Here you can always find a free place, but it is not equipped.
Shopping in Nessebar is not a good idea. Here are selling mainly Turkish products and the quality of some products is poor. Here are a lot of souvenir shops, but prices there are not low.
We really likedthe city, because we were free to travel by bus in any region of the country, and food prices were not as high as in the promoted resorts.
Nessebar – one of the most beautiful resorts to create unusual photo shoots. It seems that the by mystery of the old city is impregnated every street and every building in the district.
Pomorie – a source of healing power and health
Pomorie – a famous seaside and spa resort. The city is characterized by low, affordable prices for tourists. In the Internet are rarely write about it, and even if write, it is usually undeserved bad. In our opinion, this is one of the best Bulgarian resorts.
The town is surprisingly cozy, with an old part, situated on a peninsula. Picturesque landscapes, an ancient monastery, wild beaches, a lake-reserve, endless festivals, great shopping with a really low prices – all this awaits for you in Pomorie.
To all other in the city is produced good brandy and wine, and even is mined a sea salt. Pomorie is more suitable for a quiet family holiday and families with children, because the entrance to the sea is smooth, and the water is warm and calm. Lovers of fun are probably will be bored here, but at the same time, you can always get to the more bustling Sunny Beach, where is a huge number of nightspots..
In Pomorie there is a bus station (in the old part). It connects you to many cities in the country.

Burgas – one of the largest cities in Bulgaria
Burgas – quite attractive and affordable resort. It has a large sea port, an airport, a railway and a bus stations.
In Burgas there are beautiful beaches, a large seaside park (around 7 km) with sandy figures, the Opera House and several museums. All this attracts every year many tourists to the city.
Despite the fact that the Internet is actively promised cheap shopping in Bourgas, in fact the prices are rather big, although the choise is good. The city itself is big, but very beautiful.
Sunny Beach – the most expensive resort in Bulgaria
Sunny Beach – one of the most popular and well-known tourist complexes of the country. The city incessant discos, built in rows of countless hotels. Here everything is expensive. Prices in shops, restaurants, beaches, by taxis – is several times higher, than in Pomorie. And while the resort is literally full of people. Although the beaches are clean, but you can often see algae on the shores (and in the evening the workers take off it back into the water).
For the environmental benefits of water and sand the resort awarded the Blue Flag awards.
In Sunny Beach there is a bus station. In the city you can enjoy many excursions without any problems.
Balchik — the botanic garden-city
Balchik – is inexpensive, but not very beautiful resort. We would not like to rest here for all 14 days.
More popularity to Balchik gives a fabulously beautiful botanical garden with a summer residence of the Romanian Queen there. This is one of the main attractions throughout Bulgaria, especially in its coastal region.
The city is located in the north of the country and is the third largest seaport. We’ve been looking for a bus station in Balchik, but it turned out that there is no station. Next to the old and abandoned building is located an ordinary bus stop. There is hanging a timetable of buses, on which you can get out of town.
The main disadvantage is, that to get from Balchik directly to Nessebar or Burgas is impossible. Make sure you need to change bus in Varna.
Golden Sands – a hot resort in Bulgaria
The Golden Sands – one of the largest resorts in the country. The prices here slightly lower, than at Sunny Beach, but the weather is usually very hot. The sun heats just incredible, because the mountains do not let the fresh air, so there is often stuffy.
The resort is perfect for young people and nightlife lovers. This resort will not let you get bored – the music and the fun does not stop all day and night. But there is one drawback – the descent to the beach and the entrance to the sea are not as gently sloping, as at Sunny Beach or Nessebar due to mountainous terrain.
Varna – the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria
Varna is also a popular resort in Bulgaria. This is a huge, vibrant city with lots of parks, shops and gardens. Can not say that prices here are very high or very low.
Varna – an important economic and cultural center with its airport and a good ferry communication. It is the largest port city in Bulgaria.
In Varna there is a large bus station, from which you can go in any direction – both for Bulgaria itself and in other countries.
Obzor – a young resort village
In this town, we were just passing through, but it seemed to us nice and cheap, even a little boring. Obzor is developing rapidly and soon it is promises a luxurious vacation for all categories of tourists.
Prices here are much lower, than at the popular resorts of the country. In the town there is a bus station.
The sea is a bit warmer, than in the neighboring Golden Sands. It is great for families with children. In Obzor there works a camp for children with a water park and a park of attractions.
Ravda – a resort for quiet travelers
Ravda – a small village, that is located near Nessebar and is actively built up. This is a developing resort, so prices here are a bit lower, but there is nothing special to look at. In the central part of the town in front of the municipality building it works a pretty fountain.
There is a water park and a lunapark in Ravda. The beaches are clean, well maintained, with all the comforts. Ravda is suitable for low budget rest and families with children.
Aheloy is a city of expensive hotels
Aheloy is a small cozy resort town on the coast of Bulgaria. Despite the fact that it is located quite far from the sea, in its coastal part there are a lot of expensive hotels, except what there is no anything at all.
Coast of Aheloy is clean and tidy, there are also spa resorts. The resort is suitable for families, because it is located in a green and peaceful region of Bulgaria.
From the authors
Bulgaria is actually a very contrasting country. Cheap resorts here are no worse than the expensive, we like them even more. They just have not advertised yet. For example, in Pomorie it is cozy and nice, the prices are extremely low, and Sunny Beach is designed exclusively for people who want to quickly spend the money – a little ugly jumble of hotels and nightclubs. Here is the list of inexpensive resorts, compiled exclusively according to our experience and impressions: Pomorie, Balchik, Varna, Burgas, Obzor.
In Bulgaria there are many luxury resorts. And if some charge for the beautiful scenery, ancient cities and the Bulgarian color (it is understandable), others just pulled out of your money, as though vacuuming. To promoted and a very expensive we would have carried: Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, Nessebar, Ravda, Aheloy.
We were able to visit almost all of the resorts while traveling by bus in Bulgaria. And it proves again, that the bus connection between the cities of the country is very well and smoothly.
For tourists in Bulgaria there is a pleasant fact that coming here not by the voucher (without a hotel room), you can easily settle in any free hotel.
